Gary Barlow's Let It Shine to face The Voice UK on ITV in Saturday night ratings battle

Let It Shine (working title) - Gary Barlow

Gary Barlow's new BBC One talent show Let It Shine will go head to head with The Voice UK on ITV, it's been claimed.

The Voice UK had aired on BBC One for the past five years but was poached by ITV in a new three-year-deal in November of last year.

Now the BBC has a new singing talent show lined up to replace it, Let It Shine.

Fronted by Gary Barlow, the series will follow the hunt for singers to perform in a new stage musical based on the songs of Gary's band Take That.

The BBC have already teased an array of judges and guest stars including former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue as well as Olly Murs.

Meanwhile ITV have confirmed, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones and Gavin Rossdale for their first ever coaching line up on The Voice UK.

According to The Sun newspaper, the two shows will go head to head on Saturday nights in January, although neither programme has confirmed a start date yet.

An ITV insider alleged to the tabloid: “The BBC is very sore about losing The Voice and wants to hit back."

If the clash goes the same way as Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor's ratings war, it could be bad news for ITV.

Strictly on Sunday achieved a high of almost 11 MILLION viewers, while The X Factor had close to half as many people watching with 6.4 million.
