Ulrika Jonsson rumoured to be joining I’m A Celebrity 2019 line-up

Telly presenter previously claimed she'd never do the ITV jungle show

Ulrika Jonsson is reportedly considering signing up for I’m A Celebrity 2019 – despite previously claiming she’d never do the show.

The television presenter once said she couldn’t fathom being trapped in the Australian jungle with someone she doesn’t like.

“I know I’m A Celebrity pays well and it’s been known to enhance even the most paralysed of careers,” she commented in 2008.

“But I don’t like the thought of being stuck in the same rainforest as Robert Kilroy-Snake.”

However, it seems Ulrika has changed her mind over time – as she’s now apparently in talks for the next series.

The Sun suggests that she sees I’m A Celeb as the perfect way to relaunch her TV career after divorcing her third husband.

“She feels the time is right for a new challenge,” a source said. “The Australian jungle certainly fits that description.

“And she knows that if she signs, it will be the first of many new TV contracts coming her way.

“Ulrika is keen to throw herself back into her presenting work full time and she feels that this could be the right first step for her.”

Meanwhile, ITV is apparently eager to land Ulrika, believing viewers will find her “relatable” after she spoke candidly about her marriage struggles.

“Bosses think she could be a great fit for the jungle,” the mole added. “She won’t hold back when it comes to getting stuck into the challenges.”

Despite Ulrika’s decade-old comments, she does have experience living with celebs in front of the cameras.

In January 2009 she entered the sixth series of Celebrity Big Brother, with viewers eventually crowning her the winner.

Just over a year later, she returned for all-star series Ultimate Big Brother, finishing in seventh place.

The former Gladiators host has also competed on Dancing On Ice and Celebrity MasterChef.

Should she make it Down Under, Ulrika could share the camp with footballing icon Ian Wright and Blue singer Duncan James.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will be back on ITV in November.
