TOWIE star Gemma – who famously lasted just days on the show in 2014 – says she wants to return to camp.

Chatting recently on The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV, Gemma said she didn’t feel “ready” for I’m A Celebrity five years ago.

“I’ll never forget getting the call,” she reflected. “Looking back, I don’t feel I was ready for that show. I was new to TV, I was the underdog on Towie.

“I wasn’t the best looking girl, I didn’t have a model figure, I was this car girl from Romford selling cars. I was being put in the Jungle and in hindsight I wasn’t ready for it.

“I felt hugely out of my depth… I was petrified. I was so scared.”

Gemma went on to announce “If I was to go back now… I’ve got a lot more experience. I’ve got a tougher skin now and I think that’s where The GC came into play.

“If they asked me back, yes I’d go back.”

However, this week Gemma has claimed that producers suggested she wouldn’t be allowed to return.

According to the Mirror, she said at a recording of Celebrity Juice: “They told me, ‘The magic wouldn’t be there because you’ve already been in’, and I said, ‘Honey, if I’m in there, I’ll bring the magic’.”

Meanwhile Ex-England footballer John Barnes has put himself forward for I’m A Celebrity this year.

“From the point of view of eating anything, I eat everything and anything, so from that point of view I would do it,” he says. “Lying around doing nothing much, I quite fancy so I’d probably look at it as a bit of a holiday. I would do it, yeah.”

Other celebs tipped to appear in this year’s show include Love Island’s Olivia Attwood and The Saturday’s Frankie Bridge.

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here 2019 will start on ITV in the autumn.

Ant recently confirmed he’d be back hosting the show with Dec after Holly stepped in for him last year.

He said: “That was the great thing about Holly. It was a one-year gig. That was the brief, a one-off. I was thankful that it was her because she was looking after my mate out there and looking after the show.

“And she doesn’t need the work — she can’t get off the telly!”
