John Barrowman has clashed with I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp leader Nick Knowles over a stray pair of women's knickers.
Some of the campmates had hung their clean washing out to dry over the campfire yesterday when Nick noticed some undies had fallen to the jungle floor.
Unhappy at the idea of touching ladies' knickers, Nick asked John to pick them up for him.
"I don’t feel comfortable handling women’s knickers, but they are wet and need drying so would you hang them on the line?" he said.
However, a surprised John questioned the BBC presenter's stance.
"Why do you feel uncomfortable, it’s just an item of clothing?" he wondered. "It’s not inappropriate. It’s fine to hang a pair of women’s knickers on the washing line.
"Why is it ok for me, a gay man, to pick it up, but it’s not ok for a straight man? It’s just a piece of clothing!"
Nick insisted it was just his own issue, explaining: "I'm just a bit old-fashioned about all that kind of thing."
Emily Atack defended Nick, praising his "old-fashioned chivalry".
"I understand how a man would feel awkward picking up a young woman’s knickers he hasn’t known for very long," she told the Bush Telegraph.
However, in his own visit to the confessional, John still couldn't see the "big deal".
"Touching a pair of knickers doesn’t mean you want to have sex with them," he exclaimed. "There are no sexual connotations at all.
"She might have a problem with me picking up her knickers but I don’t have a problem with it. I do laundry, it’s no big deal!"
The kerfuffle triggered a conversation about what the campmates wouldn't do around their partners.
Emily revealed: "My ex-boyfriend didn’t hear me fart once and we were together six years.
"I hated the thought of grossing him out so I think some things should be left to do privately."
Harry Redknapp agreed with her, commenting: "I wouldn’t fart in front of my wife and she wouldn’t do it in front of me."
Meanwhile, John confessed he and his husband Scott go to the bathroom together.
"We have some of our best conversations while one of us in on the loo and the other is in the shower," he laughed.
