ITV's boss has confirmed Ant McPartlin will return to TV - but it remains to be seen if he'll be back for I'm A Celebrity this year.
Ant stepped down from TV commitments earlier this year, leaving Dec to go solo on Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain's Got Talent.
It was announced in March that Ant was taking time off “for the foreseeable future” to seek treatment in rehab after being charged with drink driving.
Speaking this week, ITV boss Carolyn McCall has confirmed Ant will be back on TV but not "a moment too soon."
In an interview with ITV news, she said: "We wish Ant well. Clearly he won't come back a moment too soon.
"So I mean, he will come back when he's well and when he is ready to come back, and ITV will not be putting him under any pressure to come back unless he's well and fit enough to come back."
Back in May, sources claimed that Ant's recovery had been doing well and he could be back for I'm A Celebrity in the autumn.
"He did well in rehab," a source said. “He feels like it has helped. That is what he needed, but he does not need any more for the time being."
They added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I think he will be back for I’m a Celebrity.”
Ant is currently odds-on with bookies Ladbrokes to reunite with Dec and present this year's series of I'm A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here!.
The bookmakers have reacted to the news from ITV CEO, Carolyn McCall, that the broadcaster will welcome him back with open arms when he is ready, and it's now 5/6 that McPartlin heads Down Under for I'm A Celeb.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "It looks like Ant is back on the straight and narrow. Should his demons and issues remain in the past, fans could well see him back on ITV sooner, rather than later."
I'm A Celebrity will return to ITV in the autumn, typically launching in November.
