Although to be fair to them, it was one ridiculous challenge.
In camp, the celebrities discussed which two should do the trial which led to arguments before Sam and Joel were finally chosen.
The "most difficult trial yet” was delayed a few minutes when a cockroach crawled into Sam’s ear and Medic Bob was called to remove the creepy critter.
Joel and Sam were then strapped to the sails of the Wicked Windmill and before the trial began eight numbered stars and forty blank ones were dropped into the capsule. When the windmill was at speed, they were asked a series of Australia related questions and when answered correctly they could find the star with the relevant number on it and pop it in their bag as a meal for camp. Eight stars to be won in eight minutes.
First the stars were poured into their capsule and then came the critters…15,000 meal worms, 40,000 crickets, 50,000 cockies and two green ant nests.
“There is one by my penis,” exclaimed Joel. “Ah we’ve all seen it,” laughed Dec. “I think that’s enough (critters)” begged Joel. “Think about the poor guy that has to count these things,” Dec replied.
Dec asked who is the current Prime Minister of Australia – Sam and Joel passed. Next question was how fast can a cockroach run in miles per hour? Joel guessed 3 correctly and then had to find star number one while the 100,000 critters poured all over the pair.
He found the star and they went on to the next question: Spinning Around was the hit single for Kylie Minogue, in what year did she release it? Joel went back immediately with 2000 and started searching for star number two. Successfully retrieved and pocketed, they answered the next questions incorrectly as Sam held her hands over her ears and nose. The next question answered correctly was kangaroos don’t fart – true or false? True shouted Sam correctly as they searched for star number three using all their time. They got the next question but failed to find the star in the two minutes they had left.
“Mate that was too hard,” said Joel. “Really horrible, by far the worst trial, so difficult and the critters were horrible as well. There were so many elements to it, loads of stars, questions that I was going to be terrible at and the critters.”
Sam agreed: “It would have been hard enough with just the stars let alone everything else.”
Looking at the three stars they retrieved Dec said: “That’s the lowest haul – how is it going to go down.”
“This is not a great day for us, I’m so frustrated” said Joel. “We knew this might be a bit difficult but that’s an understatement,” added Sam.
Returning to camp after their trial Joel tried to shine a positive light on their efforts. “Percentage wise it’s not the least number of stars because they got four out of 12 and we got 3 stars out of 8.”
The comic broke the news: “It genuinely was the worst one, horrible, we got three stars. There was so much stuff to deal with.”
The other celebrities felt they had done their best. Adam told the Bush Telegraph: “I am just happy that Joel came back with three stars if I’m honest, I’m giving it a bit of time before I start digging into him but it’s coming so he better be prepared!”
“I’ve always wanted a brother and now I feel like I’ve got 6, I love them, but they do wind you up” said Scarlett.
