I'm A Celebrity 2016 cast in lucky escape after poisonous snake enters camp

A snake spooked the I'm A Celebrity 2016 contestants in the jungle camp yesterday.

The celebrities had a lucky escape during the night from a poisonous black small eyed snake that had slithered into camp while the campmates snored away oblivious to any danger.

Although fairly small at 60 cm long the venom from the glossy skinned creature packs a punch that can leave their prey needing urgent medical attention.

The snake had crept into camp hot on the heels of a mouse that was lurking around Joel’s bed but was removed by a ranger and moved to another part of the Jungle before it could claim its prey.

Joel apparently had no idea of the danger, or the rangers around his bed, saying in the Bush Telegraph in the morning that he was happy with his peaceful night in camp.

Also in the Bush Telegraph Jordan said: “One of the worse things about living in the Jungle is the paranoia because you know that there are thousands of things that are probably watching you that you can’t see. If they felt like it they could just clamber in the hammock with you so that’s a bit scary.”

Meanwhile, first to wake up in the morning was Martin who was spooked by another - albeit much less dangerous - creative, a toad that tried to hop into his sleeping bag.

Martin decided to get up and start his chores of starting the fire and collecting water to boil. Adam, his chore buddy, remained in his sleeping bag enjoying a lie in. As all the celebrities set about their chores Adam said: “Ever since Martin came in I’ve started lying in because I can get away with it with him.”

Seeing Larry and Wayne already setting about breakfast preparations, Adam jokingly asked them for a cup of tea, but the boys were having none of it and told him where to go.

“Adam is the wind-up toy who enjoys winding people up,” said Larry.

I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here airs nightly on ITV.
