I'm A Celebrity 2016: Joel Dommett beats fear of heights to win TEN stars in 'Great Ascent' Trial

Joel Dommett conquered his phobia of heights when he climbed to the top of a 100ft tower in the latest I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Bushtucker Trial, 'The Great Ascent'.

Arriving at the Trial clearing, Joel was taken aback by the huge frame, joking to Ant and Dec: "You boys have a very large crucifix in your garden.

He thought viewers chose him because he fears heights "and there is the word ‘ascent’ in the title".

The hosts explained that he'd have to climb the tower, unlocking flares along the way. Each flare that he set off would earn him one meal for camp.

But there was a catch, with Dec adding: "There might be a few surprises up there along the way."

As he moved upwards, Joel found keys to release the flares while rummaging around in boxes full of critters - including cockroaches, mud crabs, and nipping green ants.

Similarly to his Saviours Challenge, he had to walk a plank at the top to reach the remaining flares.

Luckily, Joel managed to trigger the last one with just two seconds to spare - earning him all ten available meals.

Back on terra firma, he gleefully reacted: "I’m so happy! It was really high, I was really shaking!

"I feel like Sandra Bullock at the end of Gravity! I’m so happy to make everyone proud."

The 30-year-old - who has Pi tattooed on his arm - decided to tell his campmates about the result via a maths quiz.

They burst into cheers after working out that solution to his sum was ten.
