I'm A Celebrity 2016 gets complainants after celebrities eat live bugs

I'm A Celebrity 2016 has prompted complaints after it's latest eating trial.

Nipples, anus and penis were on the menu for Scarlett Moffatt and Carol Vorderman on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here tonight.

The pair were voted for the Bushtucker Trial which was called the I’m A Celebrity Big Bush Bake Off.

The meals were served by jungle chef, Scary Berry, who put her own unique twist on some old favourites.

Dishes included chocolate nip cookies (camel nipples); French knackeroons (turkey testicles); Bum-offee Pie (cow anus) and Sicktoria sponge (cheese fruit).

But there was also a live beetle - which Scarlett ate - and a scorpion - which Carol refused to eat.

Some viewers were NOT impressed by the trial.

One wrote: "Why is it okay to eat live animals on #ImACeleb ? Pretty sure if it was anything larger than a beetle there would be national outrage!"

"So cruel to eat a live beetle though #ImACeleb" another complained while a third even claimed: "She just murdered a beetle #ImACeleb"

Last year the show received more than 1,000 complaints after Ferne McCann ate a live spider.

In the final trial of the series, Ferne faced a LIVE spider in a glass that she had to eat.

After initial shock from the reality star, she eventually managed to complete the task but it caused quite the outrage among some viewers at the time.

TV watchdog Ofcom received a total of 700 complaints while ITV has had a further 500 directly over the challenge.

Almost a year on, Ferne made a public apology on ITV's This Morning, while dressed as a spider.

"I'm here and I'm dressed as a spider and I would like to apologise to the spider," she said, revealing a gift of a box of dead flies.

She explained: "I want to apologise to the spider species in general. Obviously I did feel bad, it was for the camp mates, we were really hungry."

I'm A Celebrity continues nightly on ITV.
