I'm A Celebrity 2016 stars walk plank 334 FEET above ground as show begins with 'Saviours' twist

New line-up split in to 'City Celebs' and 'Jungle Celebs'

Five of the new I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestants had to walk a plank 334 FEET in the air, as they competed in a 'Saviours Challenge' for this year's launch twist.

As usual, series sixteen kicked off with the new line-up getting split in to two groups.

Five of the campers - Carol Vorderman, Jordan Banjo, Adam Thomas, Joel Dommett and Ola Jordan - are known as the 'City Celebs', and met for the first time at a luxury villa.

It wasn't long before Ant and Dec crashed their party to let them know they'd be facing the first Trial.

However, the hosts then revealed that they could be given a lifeline. "You’re about to meet the remaining five celebrities who are going to compete to save you," Dec said.

On a large TV screen, bosses played footage of the other campers - Larry Lamb, Scarlett Moffatt, Sam Quek, Wayne Bridge and Lisa Snowdon, who are known as the 'Jungle Celebs'.

"You each need to pick one celebrity to complete on your behalf. Press your button, whoever does it quickest claims that celebrity," explained Ant.

"Whoever you pick will face a 'Saviours Challenge' to try and save you, so choose wisely," added Dec.

After the selections were made, the Jungle Celebs arrived at the villa. But there was a further twist, as Ant and Dec revealed that they would also face the Trial, unless the City Celeb that picked them won their Saviours Challenge.

"Essentially, you’re trying to save each other," Ant said.

It was soon time for the Saviours' Challenges to begin. The City Celebs were whisked to the roof of a Gold Coast hotel - where they had to walk a terrifying plank a whopping 334 FEET above ground.

Meanwhile, the Jungle Celebs embarked on their journeys in to camp. Sam, Wayne and Lisa faced the traditional skydive, while Larry and Scarlett had to cross a lake in a canoe.

Tune in to the first episode of I'm A Celebrity tonight at 9.00pm on ITV to find out the pairings.
