Sam Quek to replace fellow Olympian Maddie Hinch in I'm A Celebrity 2016 line-up?

Hockey champ Maddie's busy schedule reportedly forces her out

Sam Quek will reportedly appear on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2016 after her Olympic teammate Maddie Hinch pulled out.

The hockey pros both played for the Team GB squad that beat the Netherlands to win gold at the Rio games earlier this year.

Now The Sun suggests that Sam is set to join the I'm A Celebrity line-up after Maddie - who was linked to the show earlier this month - dropped out due to her busy schedule.

"Sam ticks all the boxes for producers," a source said. "She’s a hugely successful Olympian and is gorgeous to boot."

“Producers think the personality that has made her a hugely popular member of the GB hockey team will shine through."

Of course, ITV bosses are also eager for Sam to strip off for the cameras.

“She’s got a bit of experience as a swimwear model too," the mole added. "It goes without saying that they hope that will result in some waterfall scenes that the show is so famous for."

A rep for the channel said it would not comment on "speculation".

Linford Christie, Fatima Whitbread and Rebecca Adlington are among the Olympic athletes that have previously braved the jungle.

Other rumoured contestants this year include presenter Carol Vorderman, broadcaster Danny Baker, Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt and cricketer Monty Panesar.

I'm A Celebrity returns to our screens for its sixteenth series next month.
