'Star' of hit Channel 4 documentary series Big Fat Gypsy Weddings Paddy Doherty is reportedly heading into the I'm A Celebrity jungle later this year. According to the Daily Star, bosses at ITV are keen to cash in on the 'gypsy mania' following the end of the show and an think having Doherty on the show will help viewing figures.
Other names reportedly on ITV's list for the new series of the show include US actor Charlie Sheen and Irma Nici, who falsely claimed she had slept with David Beckham. Nice to see ITV aren't scraping the barrel too much this year, then.
An insider told the newspaper: "We want this to be the most explosive series ever.”
Original plans for an "All Stars" series have reportedly been shelved over fears that contestants will be "too savvy" for the jungle. Former contestant David Van Day commented: "If you put the winners back, it’ll be dull. Champs are nice guys. You need baddies.”
It's hope that Paddy will be one of those very jungle characters, and the man himself is said to be keen to put the record straight about his gypsy life on the show. “It’s a win-win combination," a source explained. “The star of Channel 4’s biggest show appearing in one of ITV’s biggest and longest-running reality series.
“ITV know a good thing when they see it.”
