The I'm A Celebrity stars were NOT told why Spencer Matthews made a sudden exit from the jungle in this year's series.

The Made In Chelsea cast member only appeared in two episodes of the show before leaving with it later being revealed that steroids were to blame.

In a lengthy statement released at the time, Spencer told fans how he had "screwed up" after originally starting to take the pills to bulk up for a charity boxing match.

Spencer explained how it had been the producers decision for him to leave, saying: "My admission to the production team that I was still taking these pills led to the conclusion that it would be unsafe for me to stay in the jungle - a decision which I found extremely hard to stomach. I pushed back but ultimately the show's duty of care prevailed and bags had to be packed."

Spencer's exit was never shown on the telly and it seems as though the celebrity campers he left behind were completely in the dark over his departure

I'm A Celeb 2015 winner Vicky Pattison revealed after returning to the UK this week: "Basically I had no clue what had gone on with Spencer at all, you’re kept very much in the dark when you’re in there and I was sort of dying to find out because I did feel as though we had a little bit of chemistry.

"So as soon as I come out I had a message off [of] him on twitter...and he basically said that he was gutted and he was going to be watching and rooting for us and wanted us to win."

Vicky went on to tell the Loose Women panel that she had been in touch with Spencer since his exit.

"I think Spencer has a lot of stuff he’s got to deal with and a lot of stuff to occupy his time, I’m assuming I should give him some space to do that," she explained. "We have been messaging and things and it has been really nice and we’ve said some really quite soppy thing to each other, just like ‘I wished he hadn’t gone.’"
