I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here battleaxe Edwina Currie proved she's a force to be reckoned with in yesterday's Bushtucker Trial, 'Cabin Fever', winning eight meals for camp.

Viewers voted for the ex-MP to face the latest food challenge, giving Kendra Wilkinson the day off - but the Playboy girl wasn't too happy with the result, remarking: "I’m happy but I’m actually kind of sad."

Meanwhile, Melanie Sykes tried to ease the pressure on Edwina - who also had represent the girls in the subsequent 'Two Tribes' challenge - telling her that she didn't have to go all-out for food if she wanted to save energy for the immunity battle.

At the trial clearing, hosts Ant and Dec explained that Edwina would enter a deserted jungle cabin to search for two stars, before descending to a pitch black basement for the remaining eight.

However, as with the previous trial, only the winners of the Two Tribes challenge would receive any food - even if she achieved a full house.

Edwina quickly won the first two meals in seperate chest full of snakes, before heading down to the basement - where she found herself up to her knees in offal.

She willed herself on as she rooted around in holes for more stars, encountering mud crabs, soldier crabs, baby crocs and yabbies along the way.

Once her time limit ran out, the 68-year-old emerged from the cabin with a total of eight stars.

Edwina received a round of applause after sharing the news with the rest of her campmates - but remained acutely aware that her job was only half done.

"Having won eight stars, I’ve now got to make sure it’s us what eats it," she said. "I’ve got to go into battle with Mr Carl Fogarty and try and beat him. That’s going to be hard."
