Craig Charles' unexpected exit from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2014 has sent shockwaves through the jungle, leaving some campmates in tears.

The Coronation Street actor decided to quit the show yesterday when producers informed him of the sudden death of his brother Dean.

Before leaving, Craig returned to the camp briefly to bid farewell to the rest of the contestants, telling them: "I’m out of here guys."

Vicki Michelle, who spent time in the Celebrity Slammer with Craig before they joined the camp, was first to share her sadness once the tragic news had sunk in.

"It’s such a shame he’s had to go, it’s a huge loss to the camp because he was a lovely personality, cheeky chappy and we’re all going to miss him, we got really upset," she gushed. "In the Slammer you’ve got nothing else to do but talk about your lives and he’s such a nice guy."

Nadia Forde praised him for helping her cope with the show's tough challenges, saying: "He held my hand through some tough moments in the first few days so it’s sad that he’s not going to be around, I thought I’d be out of here before him. I’ll miss him."

Michael Buerk agreed: "It’s terrible for him and it is sad for us too really because he was a great guy to have around."

Meanwhile, the sharp reminder of life on the outside world had Tinchy Stryder remarking that he "doesn't care" about winning meals for the group - but although he got a tad emotional, Carl 'Foggy' Fogarty tried his best to keep his head in the game.

"You start thinking about your kids and family and I don’t really want to be going down that route," said the World Superbike champion.

Craig's departure came just hours after Gemma Collins walked out of the show, claiming she couldn't cope with the pressures of jungle life.

Two new faces - Jake Quickenden and Edwina Currie - are due to join camp shortly, though their arrivals aren't thought to be connected to the exits. It is not known whether Gemma and Craig will be replaced.
