I'm A Celebrity 2013 winner Kian Egan has revealed what we didn't see in this month's coming out programme.

The Westlife singer was crowned king of the jungle in the final a few weeks' back, but his time in the camp left Kian feeling like death.

The singer lost a stone during his three week stay and confessed to seriously being worried about starving to death.

He and his fellow campers were provided with a basic ration of rice and beans, but had to win anything more.

Although somewhat ironically, it was eating that left Kian on the edge of quitting the show, having become ill after devouring an ostrich egg.

"It was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. I was already unwell because I was so hungry," he recalled. "I’m a man who usually eats a lot, but our basic ration of rice and beans only gave me around 500 to 600 calories a day.

"Winning trials earned us extra food, but it would be only a small piece of meat. A couple of strings of carrot and a piece of fruit — 200 calories at most.

"It’s not nearly enough to maintain our energy levels, and our minds and bodies got weaker by the day."

He added: "The egg finished me off and gave me my worst day. I’d have a dizzy spell and have to lie down, go back to sleep for half an hour and try again."

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Kian claimed that the other celebs had gone into the show with game plans, but not him.

He explained: "My game plan was 100 per cent be myself and if people like that great, if people don’t like that what more can you do. I didn’t exaggerate or modify my behaviour in any way."

Saying he never expected to win, the popstar continued: "I went in to have fun, to have an experience. It’s something I spend money to do in my own time. I go surfing on the North Island in the Philippines, in different parts of Indonesia, and live in a tent, go fishing and surf, go into a little village and try all the weird foods."
