But then they would say that, wouldn't they?
The pair certainly flirted with one another in the jungle, but it was only after they both left that their romance seemed to actually kick off.
Joey said there was nothing to be read into their very public outings as a couple straight after they left camp.
"We knew millions of people were watching [on the show] and I feel like we liked each other too much for that," he said. "When we came out, it was instant, it was really intense. We were all over each other."
Speaking about how the pair spent their time after being eliminated together, Joey explained: "We spent all night together, we had a bit of a food party with my dad, his girlfriend and her dad - then they left us on our own.
"We didn't kiss properly until the next day. The first night we just started talking about how much we like each other. It could've been easily happened that night, but it was the next night and then we were saying something. You know what I'm saying."
Joey added: "People are entitled to their opinions, but I'm genuine.
"The very reason I didn't get with her in the jungle is because I didn't want her to think it was just for that."
With experts claiming that together the pair stand to make up to £5 million however, it's no surprise that some aren't buying it...
