I'm A Celebrity 2013 proved to be last year's top rated reality telly show, data has shown.

Official viewing figures from ratings experts BARB show that the ITV series launched to one of its best figures ever with an audience of over 13 million.

A cast including the likes of Joey Essex, Laila Morse and eventual winner Kian Egan proved popular with viewers and helped make the show the most watched of 2013 overall.

Only the New Years Eve fireworks celebrations bettered it, and then by fewer than 500,000 viewers.

Strictly Come Dancing proved to be the next most watched show with its live instalment just before Christmas being seen by over 12 million viewers. An average of 12.79 million tuned in to see Abbey Clancy crowned winner in the show's first all female finale.

Britain's Got Talent finished third in the list with 12.23 million for its final - won by shadow daners Attraction - back in the summer of 2013.

It leaves The X Factor and The Voice UK fighting it out in fourth and fifth spots respectively. While The X Factor's ratings were once again down year-on-year the ITV series still managed to attract more viewers than the second series of the BBC One singing show.

The X Factor achieved a ratings high of 10.6 million viewers last series, although that was during the pre-recorded audition stages rather than in any of the live shows.

The Voice behaved similar, getting its series high of 9.5 million back in April before its live finals in the summer.

Outside the top five and The Apprentice beat Dancing On Ice, while Celebrity Big Brother peaked with over 3 million viewers.
