I'm A Celebrity 2013: Westlife's Kian Egan dreading being away from his son

Former Westlife singer Kian Egan says being away from his family will be the most challenging part of his I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! experience.

The 33-year-old - who travelled the world touring with the hit Irish boyband until their split last year - has a young son, Koa, with his actress wife Jodi Albert.

And, despite the many trials and tribulations he'll face in the jungle, Kian says the thing he's dreading the most is having no contact with Koa, who turns two shortly after the series ends.

"I am not going to be able to see him or know what is going on with him. That will be tough," he mused.

"I went away recently on a surfing holiday with some friends for two weeks, but at least I could still see my son and his progression. I am going to miss him so much. It is going to be a very tough environment with lack of communication."

However, the pain will be worth it for Kian, who's hoping to break in to TV now that his time with Westlife has come to an end.

"Television is what I want to do now," he revealed. "Jodi, is really supportive. She thinks I will be able to cope with it very well. I’ve watched this show for so many years and I love it."

Kian is currently one of the four coaches on the Irish version of The Voice, alongside 'Superstar' singer Jamelia.

I'm A Celebrity 2013 begins on Sunday night at 9.00pm on ITV.
