I'm A Celebrity 2012 star Brian Conley collapsed and was rushed to hospital after falling ill in the jungle, it's been revealed.
It was announced at the top of Monday night’s programme that Brian had quit the show due to medical reasons.
An ITV spokesman confirmed: “Brian Conley has left the jungle for medical reasons.”
But they added that no more details would be provided “for reasons of confidentiality”.
The Sun report today that Brian's wife wants answers from show bosses after visiting sick Brian in hospital in Australia.
“She couldn’t believe how much he’d changed after ten days in the jungle. He looks really unwell and vulnerable," a show source told the newspaper.
They added: “He’s lost a lot of weight and is exhausted. Doctors have prescribed lots of rest until he recovers. Anne-Marie was hugely supportive of Brian’s decision to go on the show, but now you can’t blame her wishing he hadn’t.
“She wants to know how this happened and why bosses did not intervene earlier.”
Brian is now out of hospital and should make a full recovery from his stint in the Aussie bush.
An ITV spokesman last night told the newspaper: “The safety and welfare of our contestants is of paramount importance.
"All contestants are assessed by independent medical experts.
"We also have contact where necessary with the celebrities’ GPs.
“Medical personnel are also available 24 hours a day to provide support if it is needed.”
