Ashley rose to fame as one of the Pussycat Dolls, who achieved success with hits such as "Don't Cha" and "When I Grow Up". She left the girlband - which also featured The X Factor's Nicole Scherzinger and Got To Dance judge Kimberly Wyatt - in 2010 to pursue a solo career.

Ashley says: "I am so nervous about getting in the jungle and getting through some of the challenges. It’s going to be very challenging for me and it’s going to take me out of my comfort zone. Although the jungle is going to test me in so many ways, I was so excited when I got the invite. It’s going to be such a great experience.”

Brian embraces I'm A Celebrity as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, saying: "I am 51 and this is an experience that money cannot buy. This is a trip I will take to my grave and I will never forget."

I'm A Celebrity 2012 - Charlie BrooksCharlie Brooks

Charlie is best known for portraying Janine Butcher on BBC One's hit soap opera EastEnders, in which her character famously sent Barry Evans (Shaun Williamson) to his grave by pushing him down a hill. Her other credits include The Bill, Jonathan Creek and Bleak House.

She says it'll be hard living without her daughter Kiki, and while she's dreading the eating Trials, she relishes new challenges. "I haven’t jumped out of a plane, but I have done some bungee jumps before and so when I got offered this, I decided to accept. Now I am going I am really excited.”

I'm A Celebrity 2012 - Colin BakerColin Baker

Age: 69

Missing any special occasions? "Half of the rehearsals for my role as Nanny Nelly in pantomime at Bournemouth."

Colin is firmly entrenched in British telly history as one of the actors behind the legendary Doctor Who, having played the character's sixth incarnation between 1984 and 1986.

The oldest member of this year's line-up, Colin admits that he'd be 'delighted' if his time on I'm A Celebrity led to more television work. He comments: "Now I am about to go in the jungle, I wouldn't say I am excited. It's a mixture of intrigue, a feeling of resigned and interested to see how I am going to react. I haven't a clue as I have not done anything like this ever before. For me, this is pushing back the boundaries."

I'm A Celebrity 2012 - David HayeDavid Haye

Age: 32
Phobias: "I hate losing"
Missing any special occasions? "Aside from training, no"
Miss most: Gadgets and boys' toys
Dream campmate: "Will Smith. Multi talented, inspirational and could spar in the gym"
Relationship status: Married

David is a former WBA heavyweight champion boxer, who has won fights against the likes of Audley Harrison and Dereck Chisora. The uber-competitve sport has probably made him better prepared for the jungle than most - but he acknowledges that it will take him out of his comfort zone.

"When you step into a boxing ring, you are putting your life on the line. It is a sport and if you take a punch badly, it is life changing. In that respect, going in the jungle will not be harder," he says. "But I do think it is going to be tough because it's a situation I am not familiar with. Being in the jungle will present its own challenges."

Phobias: None
Missing any special occasions? "A TV darts championship in Wolverhampton."

One of the most famous darts players ever, Eric's skill earned him the nickname 'Crafty Cockney' - as well as five BDO world champion titles. He was encouraged to do I'm A Celebrity by his children, who think he's "nuts and mad".

But Eric insists he isn't doing the show for exposure, claiming he's happy with his role as a commentator on Sky Sports. " Gosh no I don’t want to do any more TV. I see this as my last chance saloon," he says. "There aren’t any misconceptions to dispel. I just want to be able to look back and have a laugh in years to come."

Actress Helen is heading in to the jungle to do something different, following her exit from ITV1 soap Coronation Street in February after twelve years playing wild child Rosie Webster.

"People don’t expect me to be in the jungle and one of my big reasons for doing I’m A Celebrity is I like to have different options," Helen comments. "I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket and I like to take things how they come. What’s so nice about this show is I can go in as me."

As one of the stars of E4 scripted reality show Made In Chelsea, entertainment PR Hugo is used to living a luxurious and glamorous lifestyle in the posh London borough. Therefore, as you might expect, Hugo hopes I'm A Celebrity will show that there's more to him than meets the eye.

"On Made in Chelsea, you didn’t see the whole of me,” he explains. “You only saw me interact with my peer group and I think it’s going to be interesting to see me interact with people who aren’t from my life and not from London. I do have friends who aren’t from Chelsea. It’s going to be nice to show who I really am.”

Actress Linda played Tracey Stubbs on much-loved BBC sitcom Birds Of A Feather between 1989 and 1998. Recently she has taken to the stage for a touring version of the show, with rumours suggesting that a new TV series is on the cards.

Linda jumped at the chance to do I'm A Celebrity, feeling it was an opportunity she couldn't turn down. " They approached me last year about appearing in the jungle, but my daughter had just found out she was pregnant and I didn’t want to leave her behind,” she revealed. “When they asked me again, I felt it was now or never.

"I know people who have been in the jungle, like Joe Swash and Jenny Éclair, and nobody has come out saying they regretted going in. Everybody has loved the experience."

I'm A Celebrity 2012 - Nadine DorriesNadine Dorries

Age: 55

Missing any special occasions? "Local elections, a by-election, whether President Obama will still be in office or not and the Tatler ball"
Miss most: "Aside from my three daughters, my dog."
Dream campmate: Sir Winston Churchill
Relationship status: Dating

Nadine - or 'Mad Nad' as she has been dubbed by the press - is a politician and member of the Conservative Party. As the leader of the Mid-Bedfordshire constituency, Nadine is the first ever standing MP to take part in I'm A Celebrity - a feat that hasn't gone down well with the Tories, who suspended her earlier this week.

However, despite the completely different setting, Nadine doesn't think it will be much different from her day job. "Westminster is a jungle,” she says. "Game playing, tactics, strategies. In Westminster you achieve everything by vote. This is the same. The parallels are huge."
