And as the competition heats up, the remaining contestants take on a first for the Great British Bake Off.

It’s a case of Velkommen as the they enter the tent, as Bake Off-co hosts Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding introduce the first ever Danish Week.

The bakers face unfamiliar recipes as they battle to impress Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. There’s a bread challenge Signature where they must demonstrate style as well substance before Paul sets a spherical Technical.

With a place in the Bake Off Semi-final at stake, everyone is out to impress. For their final challenge, the bakers must deliver an elaborate pastry Showstopper fit for a Danish birthday party. Who will become an honorary Great Dane, and who will be leaving the tent?

Currently there are five bakers left in the competition: They are 33-year-old Briony from Bristol, 27-year-old Kim-Joy from Leeds, 26-year-old Manon from London, 30-year-old Rahul from Rotherham, and 29-year-old Ruby from London.

As the competition reaches its conclusion, Paul has warned the Bakers that getting one of his handshakes will prove ever difficult.

In an interview on the Jonathan Ross Show, he said: “The handshake came from when [bakes] looked very professional and they almost cross that line from being amateur to professional…

“Every year the standard has got better and better and better and this year has been phenomenal. Some of the flavours they are bringing out. Rahul’s stuff has been incredible.

“You will see it happen [in a few weeks] the handshakes almost stop. Because what I’ve done is I’ve realised they are all moving up in standard so I’ve got to move my barrier up so that’s exactly what I do, I raise the bar and then no one gets over the top of it.”

The Great British Bake Off airs tonight at 8PM on Channel 4.
