Great British Bake Off 2016 in 'fakery scandal' after surprise revelation

The Great British Bake Off 2016 has got itself involved in a 'fakery' scandal.

It comes after it was revealed that those amazing technical bakes aren't actually cooked by judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry.

Each week we see one of the pair set a tricky recipe for the contestants to follow, having never seen it before.

Paul and Mary are then seen tucking into a perfect example, showing just how it should look and what the bakers need to do.

But it turns out that those cakes aren't made by Paul and Mary.

“Mary and Paul have never made a single cake in the tent," a source revealed. “The technical creations viewers see them discussing are created by a team of home economics experts hired by Love Productions."

They told The Sun newspaper: “Mary and Paul might explain how the finished result is achieved, but they have had no hand in it.

"Paul in particular often talks about what ‘we’ have done, so it will come as a shock to fans.”

A spokesperson from the show's production company confirmed: "No, Paul and Mary don’t make the cakes.

“They never have.

“They are baked on the day and Paul and Mary could never do that.”

Some viewers weren't too impressed by the revelation.

"Mary berry and Paul don't even make their own technical bakes??? I feel so cheated," one wrote online.

The Great British Bake Off concludes its final BBC One series next Wednesday night.
