Great British Bake Off 2016: Who left tonight? Recap Desserts week!

Tonight's Great British Bake Off results: Who won, who left?

Who left on The Great British Bake Off 2016 tonight? Here are the results and and recap you need!

It was Week 7 and with six bakers left, a spot in the Quarter Finals was up for grabs.

But unfortunately for Tom Gillford, it wasn't to be as he was sent home by judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

This evening it was Dessert Week on the show as three sweet challenges decided which one of the remaining bakers would be going home.

First up was the usual signature challenge, a family size roulade, with fillings ranging from pina colada to cheesecake.

For most it was a good bake but last week's star baker Tom found himself restarting his recipe with 30 minutes to go, while Candice Brown's finished roulade was described as "rubbery".

The technical challenge provided a real test. The bakers had 3 hours to create a marjolaine, a French square gateaux with four layers of meringues.

Set by Mary, the recipe was one that none of the bakers had ever made but they all managed to get something together to taste.

Selasi Gbormittah ranked in last for the "messy" finish to his marjolaine while Tom also struggled, but Andrew Smyth's pipping and layers won him top spot in the countdown.

Finally there was this week’s Showstopper challenge where Paul and Marry asked each baker to come up with a number of mousses. Specifically, 24 mini mousse cakes in two different flavours.

There was a LOT of running back and forward between fridges and freezers as panicked bakers hurriedly wished their mousses to set in time.

After some rather wobbly presentations to Paul and Mary it was then over to the results - but who won Star Baker and who left the tent?

Sue Perkins announced that Andrew was the winner of Dessert week but Mel Giedroyc delivered the bad news to Tom Gillford, who bowed out before the Quarter Finals.

The Great British Bake Off continues Wednesday nights at 8PM on BBC One.
