The reality regular joined the MTV show in 2013 but won’t be back after the latest series.

Marnie took to Twitter to announce the news this week.

She said: “For everyone keep asking I have in fact permanently left Geordie shore, it was just time to move on, it just wasn’t the same without everyone who left and I made the decision to leave, it was a wild 5 years and I’m really thankful I got to do it!”

A source told The Sun newspaper previously: “Marnie has loved her time on Geordie Shore but it’s time for her to move on.

“She will still be around for this series but that’s it – she won’t return for the next.”

According to to insiders, Marnie is looking to take her career ‘to the next level’ and already has “loads of exciting opportunities” including new TV shows.

The source added: “She’s loved her time on Geordie Shore and it’s given her an incredible platform, but now she wants to move on and start new chapter in her life.”

Speaking in January, Marnie admitted she found filming Geordie Shore stressful.

“I find it hard to film. I suffer with OCD and anxiety and I get stressed. I want to keep on top of my work outside the house and you can’t do that when you’re filming,” she told Star magazine. “Everyone thinks it’s easy but it’s actually really hard.”

Marnie’s exit comes after she branded the show “fake and scripted.”

Fans were left confused when an episode of the latest series, filmed last year, saw Marnie celebrating her birthday when it actually took place this month.

One viewer tweeted Marnie: “I don’t understand how it was @MarnieGShore birthday in the house a couple months ago and it’s also marnies birthday today ????”

Marnie replied in a now deleted tweet: “It’s coz it’s fake and scripted”
