Dancing On Ice judge Louie Spence has admitted he was "so surprised" to be offered the chance to join the show this year.
Speaking to The People, former Pineapple Dance Studios star Louie also insisted there was no hard feelings between him and former judge Jason.
Louie told the newspaper: "I was so surprised to get the Dancing on Ice job because it came around really suddenly.
"The first I heard of it was from an article in the paper saying that I was being looked at to do it."
The 42-year-old, who sits on this year's ice panel alongside fellow new judge Katarina Witt and head judge Robin Cousins, continued: "Me and Jason are good friends so I was like, 'What's going on? Apparently I'm going on the ice. What's going on with you?'
"And he said, 'No, I'm still negotiating'. I don't know the ins and outs but I believe Jason decided it wasn't for him this year. It was his decision to move on.
"So when they did come to me and said, 'Would you like to?' I'm there. But it has not affected my friendship with him."
Dancing On Ice 2012 continues tonight on ITV1.
