Dancing On Ice 2012: Jennifer Ellison thanks fans for their support after head injury

Dancing On Ice 2012 contestant Jennifer Ellison has thanked fans for their support after she injured herself on Sunday night.

The 28-year-old cut her head with her own skate whilst performing a flexible move during her routine with professional partner Dan Whiston.

He explained: “At the end of the routine, Jen did the scorpion kick. She threw her head really high and her heel of her skate went into the back of her head and when I did the last thing, and she went into the splits, I looked down and I could see blood.

“She’s in really good hands now. She’s made of hard stuff. Just very scary.”

Speaking after the live show, and having received medical attention to patch up the wound, Jennifer thanked viewers for their support and for voting her through to next week's show.

“This is a message for everyone online who has been in touch to see if I’m ok. I’m absolutely fine," she said

The former soap actress explained: “I’ve been glued back together. I’ve got a bit of a headache and I’m sure I’m going to feel worse in the morning but thank you so much, it means a lot. Hopefully I won’t have to do my routine again.”

Chemmy Alcott and Rosemary Conley ended up in the skate off at the weekend, with Rosemary becoming the latest star to leave the ice for good.

Dancing On Ice 2012 continues this Sunday with the Ultimate Skills Test.
