Dancing on Ice skater Matt Evers hints at potential return

Skater Matt Evers has dropped a possible hint at Dancing on Ice's potential return to TV.

The former pro performer appeared on all nine series of the show and has been meeting up with former staff amid rumours of a comeback.

He shared a snap on Instagram this week, teasing fans: “When your stage manager from Dancing On Ice visits LA…. @shiptonite #blastfromthepast #losangeles #friends”

“Is he discussing you going back to the show? Is that why he’s there?” one follower was quick to ask.

Another questioned: “Looking good u two, has he come to see you about a rumour we have heard in uk!?”

A third quipped: “Fingers crossed he’s brought a contract for the new series”

Dancing On Ice last aired in 2014 but rumour has it that ITV are looking at a revival.

The Sun previously reported that channel boss Kevin Lygo had the celebrity ice skating series on the "hitlist for 2017".

“It was a smash hit, and even at its worst was still pulling in more [viewers] than some of the shows currently on telly – particularly in the Sunday night slot," a source explained. “It’s very early days and nothing has been commissioned just yet but it’s definitely on the to-do list."

It's been said that show coaches and creative directors Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, who won gold in the 1984 Winter Olympics, are also in talks to reprise their roles.

Speaking on their decision to stop the show back in 2014, Chris said: "We’ve had this wonderful experience and we just wanted to finish at the top of our game and the show to be on top of its game.”

However he added that a return was always possible.

"You never know. ITV rested Saturday Night Takeaway, so it might come back," he said.

As yet ITV have not officially confirmed a new series.
