With just days to go now until the grand live final of Dancing On Ice 2011 we preview Sunday's show and take a look at this year's three celebrity finalists - and rate their chances! Over the past 11 weeks we've seen a whopping 16 contestants take to the ice, challenged to perform skills, with props and most recently on their very own!
Kicking off Sunday's final show however won't be any of the contestants, instead Torvill & Dean will take to the ice to perform a unique version of the Bolero - accompanied by acclaimed violinist David Garrett! From there however the fun is over and it's down to business as Laura Hamilton, Sam Attwater and Chloe Madeley battle it out to become Dancing On Ice 2011 champion!
First up all of the three finalists will once again perform their "favourite" performance of the series before going on to take part in a showcase performance. This will see the skating stars have full control over their routine, from the backing dancers to the costumes and even lighting!
Finally, after third place is announced, the top two skaters will each perform a version of the Bolero in their last chance to win both the viewers' and judges' votes!
But who will win? Here, TellyMix give our views on this year's trio of finalists...
Starting the show as perhaps the least known of the celebs, Laura has come on in leaps and bounds over the past three months to top the leader board time and time again. Despite this however, it still hasn’t been an easy ride for the kids telly presenter who has found herself in the bottom two on more than one occasion.
That said, with her effortless ability on the ice and confidence not seen in a Dancing On Ice contestant for years we certainly think the final is looking good for Laura. In her recent solo performance, she even left Jason Gardiner speechless! Asked for his thoughts on Laura's fun and sexy routine to 'These Boots Are Made For Walking', Gardiner could only stutter: "For me... I just... You, You... You just amaze me!"
With an impressive repertoire of performances over the past few weeks to choose from to perform again on Sunday, we think Laura is the one to beat during the weekend's Dancing On Ice 2011 final!
Where did it all go so wrong for this former Eastenders hottie? Sam started off the competition in a way no one else has ever done, scoring an impressive 21 points out of 30 in his first ever skate. For the next three weeks Sam continued to top the leader board with one breathtaking performance after another. Recently however it seems as though the actor has lost his magic touch, as press stories about his apparent fake relationship with skating partner Brianne plague him.
"Sam and Brianne started off as pretty much the front-runners," Jason Gardiner revealed. “But somewhere along the line there’s been a real disconnection between them, that I’ve been seeing for the last few weeks, where they’re out of sync.”
Despite his recent wobbles on the ice however, Sam is still scoring high in the competition and last weekend was back at the top of the leader board. Robin Cousins, who gave the 24-year-old a 9.5/10 for his solo performance, told Sam: "It was clean and controlled; I thought you did a terrific job."
While we think Sam as the skills to take the title on Sunday, we're not sure if the public will get entirely behind him after the press rumours about his fauxmance!
Chloe Madeley is easily the Dancing On Ice 2011 competition's dark horse, quietly improving her skills every week to eventually top the leader board during Week 8. If we're totally honest back at the start of the competition we didn't have high hopes for Chloe, predicting her to be out of the running in the first few weeks - but the pintsize presenter has proved us well and truly wrong!
We really enjoyed Chloe's solo skate on Sunday night, as she strutted her stuff to an upbeat and complex routine along to 'That's Not My Name'. Dancing On Ice judge Emma Bunton told her: "You came out here and gave it that attitude that I love!"
This final is one of the closest in years and there's no way we'll be writing off Chloe as easily as we did at the start. However we think she'll probably finish this show in third place this Sunday. We still love you though!
Tune into the Dancing On Ice 2011 final on ITV1 this Sunday from 7:40PM
