Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner has defended his decision to save Kerry Katona over Comedy Dave on Sunday's skate off, calling complaints about his choice "laughable". Both viewers and even Dave's professional partner Frankie blasted the decision by the panel, saying it was biased towards performance rather than skating skill.
Explaining his decision, Jason told The Sun: "I judge on the skate-off and only that. She was better than Dave on the night.
"Unfortunately Comedy Dave didn't know how to translate his personality on to the ice.
"I'm not denying he's a better skater than Kerry, but he messed up the choreography when it counted. People were just looking for that jump. But for me it's about the overall routine. "
Despite saving her, Jason also had harsh words about Kerry's skills on the ice too. "[Kerry]'s very lucky that her skate-off routine was slightly better than Dave's," he told the newspaper. "But she deserved to be in the bottom two as, quite frankly, her skating has been poor. It's like she's been wrapped in cotton wool."
Jason added: "The stuff she does on the ice is just so basic."
Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday on ITV1.
