Ever critical Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner has escaped the axe from the show following his argument with Karen Barber. The spat, which occurred live on air last Sunday, saw more than 2,000 complaints sent to ITV about the matter and Gardiner finding his job on the panel in doubt.
Yesterday he admitted that ITV were discussing sacking him from the programme, adding: “I don’t know what they will do. I can’t do anything about it. If I’m honest, I’m always surprised I get invited back every year.”
However last night a spokesperson for the programme told The Sun: "Jason has been spoken to by producers and that is the end of the matter."
A source added: "Jason was told this sort of behaviour is completely out of order. It's fine to bitch about contestants, but you can't slag people you work with.
"It might make great TV but ITV has a duty of care to employees."
Jason, who is reportedly paid £100,000 a year to sit on the panel, last night apologised for his remarks towards Karen. “I felt I overstepped the mark," he said, "It was personal and I wasn’t proud of it."
Dancing On Ice 2011 continues this Sunday.
