Dancing On Ice celebrity contestant Laura Hamilton has defended judge Jason Gardiner's comments towards Karen Barber on Sunday night - say it's the reason he's on the panel. Chatting on Loose Women earlier today, the kids telly presenter also revealed she hopes to follow in the footsteps of hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
"I've worked in television for nearly eleven years. I worked behind the scenes for five years and then got into children's presenting," the 28-year-old explained. "It's great working with Holly and Phil who also started as children's TV presenters and a natural progression like that would be amazing."
The young skating - who together with professional partner Colin Ratushniak scored 24 points on Sunday - also credited the show for boosting her profile. Laura said: "Being on Twitter, it's really lovely that people message you and say 'Actually I do know who you are and my four-year-old is loving see you in the sparkly outfits because they are used to seeing you on kids' TV'. Then obviously you are growing a wider fan base - everybody is - from being a part of the show."
During the chat, Laura also controversially defended Jason Gardiner's comments on Sunday's show, which saw him and 'Head Coach' Karen Barber have an argument live on air. "That's his job," Laura suggested, "He's there for a reason. I try not to take it too much to heart, to be fair."
