Even a shock skate off result couldn't help prevent Dancing On Ice's ratings from continuing to tumble yesterday.

In last night's Dancing On Ice 2014 results, Sam and Ray Quinn landed in the bottom two with Sam finally going home after his fifth skate off.

Earlier in the evening Sam had landed bottom of the judges' scoreboard while Ray had struggled with a flying routine, leaving him off the top of the leaderboard for the first time ever.

But despite the surprise outcome in the results ratings were down again for what's meant to be the final stages of the last ever series.

An average audience of just over 5 million viewers tuned in to the performance show from 6:15PM, down just about 400,000 viewers on last week's episode and getting worryingly close to the 5 million viewer mark.

A further 250,000 viewers caught up on ITV+1, well down on last Sunday's total figure of 5.6 million.

The results managed to stay above the 4 million barrier with an average of 4.2 million watching the last skate off and judges' decision. With those who caught up on ITV+1, the figure rose to 4.5 million.

Elsewhere and The Only Way is Essex continued on ITV2 but was down around 300,000 viewers on last week's new series premiere.

The FINAL ever episode of Dancing On ice airs next Sunday night on ITV.
