The former Bill actor, who finished second in series 5, is one of fourteen contestants returning to the show for its final run.
"This series is really hard. It's a hard challenge this time around and the competition's really high," he confessed. "I think it's just hard because you come back in and they expect you to be picking up where you left off. However, some of us haven't been on the ice since we finished, like me.
"Have I got any secret weapons? Not really, no. I just want to have a laugh. It's the last time we're going to do it."
This year Gary will be skating with Katie Stainsby, having previously skated with Maria Filippov.
Although he's not sure how long the pair will last in the contest, telling DigitalSpy: "Some people are clear favourites and have been skating all their lives like professionals.
"But then there's me and Jorgie [Porter] who are just here to make up the numbers and have a laugh. But this time round it's our time to shine."
Joining Gary on the Dancing On Ice this Sunday will be Hear’Say singer Suzanne Shaw, soap actress Zaraah Abrahams, Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle, footballer David Seaman and Eastenders’ stars Todd Carty and Sam Attwatter.
