Proving that there really is nothing people won't complain about, the the TV host came under fire for remarks he made about Jorgie Porter and her pro Sylvain Longchambon in Saturday night's live show, poking fun at Sylvain's trend for hooking up with his celebrity partners.
In one he said: "Jorgie’s hoping to win the main prize this time. I’m not talking about Sylvain, obviously.”
Phillip was criticised on Twitter after the show for the personal comments but hit back: "I didn't do Hello magazine! Just a bit of gentle ribbing s'all."
Speaking on This Morning yesterday, he explained: "The sense of humour wheels all fell off last night which I thought was a little bit of a shame, especially on Twitter, and it got a little controversial and I just thought, 'Come on everybody, lighten up - it's light-hearted ribbing'.
"We were giving Sylvain a bit of a hard time, but nothing that hasn't been said before and nothing that wasn't said in the VT."
Eliminated Jorgie Porter, who was also on the ITV show today, admitted: "To be honest, I didn't really know what was going on... I was just really looking at him really."
But it seems that the matter has now been passed on to TV watchdog Ofcom, with a source telling The Sun newspaper: “Ofcom has received complaints, not a lot but some viewers were upset and complaints are always looked at.”
Meanwhile, DOI judge Jason Gardiner inisted there was no "stitch up" in pairing Jorgie and Sylvain together.
He wrote on Facebook: “Many have posted on Twitter that it was a bad decision to pair her with Sylvain. Controversial… maybe, but bad… no. Sylvain may have had more ass on this show than a toilet seat but in his defence he is one of the best pro male skaters we’ve ever had.”
