Dancing On Ice host Phillip Schofield has defended his "ribbing" on last night's show.

The TV host came under fire for comments he made about Jorgie Porter and her pro Sylvain Longchambon in last night's live show, poking fun at Sylvain's trend for hooking up with his celebrity partners.

Phillip was criticised on Twitter after the show for the comments about the personal lives of the cast, but hit back: "I didn't do Hello magazine! Just a bit of gentle ribbing s'all."

Speaking on This Morning earlier today, he explained: "The sense of humour wheels all fell off last night which I thought was a little bit of a shame, especially on Twitter, and it got a little controversial and I just thought, 'Come on everybody, lighten up - it's light-hearted ribbing'.

"We were giving Sylvain a bit of a hard time, but nothing that hasn't been said before and nothing that wasn't said in the VT."

Eliminated Jorgie Porter, who was also on the ITV show today, admitted: "To be honest, I didn't really know what was going on... I was just really looking at him really."

Dancing On Ice continues next Sunday, while Celebrity Big Brother airs nightly.
