Dancing On Ice 2014 launches to lowest viewing figures ever

The final series of Dancing On Ice kicked off on ITV last night with some lacklustre ratings.

Seemingly proving the channel were right to ditch the show, the all-star run launched yesterday evening to its lowest ever opening numbers.

An average audience of 6.76 million viewers tuned in from 6:15PM to see the first seven stars skate, down from last year's figure of over 7 million.

In last night's Dancing On Ice 2014 results, two bowed out in a "brutal" twist but it seems that viewers just weren't that interested.

Just under a million fewer people - 5.82m - returned to watch the second instalment of the show from 8:30PM.

Meanwhile, the latest Celebrity Big Brother 2014 highlights rebounded by Saturday night's low with over 2.3 million viewers, up on last year's equivalent episode. An average audience of 2.33 million tuned in between 9PM and 10PM, as housemates battled for immunity from the first eviction on Wednesday night.

Dancing On Ice continues next Sunday, while Celebrity Big Brother airs nightly.
