Dancing On Ice 2013: Jason Gardiner says Luke Campbell doesn't deserve to be in the final

Luke Campbell (Dancing On Ice 2013)

Dancing On Ice 2013 judge Jason Gardiner has hit out at Luke Campbell ahead of the final.

Ever critical Jason hasn't made a secret over the past ten weeks that he's not a huge fan of boxer Luke, and the ice judge's harsh comments haven't stopped despite the Olympian making it all the way to the end.

Speaking to The Sun today, Jason complained about Luke making the final over Gareth Thomas, who had to withdraw last weekend after falling ill.

Jason, who returned to the judging panel this year after being axed for 2012, is amazed Luke has made it to Sunday’s final of the ITV show.

He said: “Luke is in by default. Do I think technically he deserves to be there? No I don’t. But he is very popular with young girls and they vote.”

And praising Gareth, Luke went on: “The transformation of Gareth from rugby brute to ice dancer has been quite remarkable. I wanted Matt, Beth and Gareth in the final. That would have been so brilliant.

“Each possesses a quality the other doesn’t. It would have then been down to who people liked the most because each of them could have taken the crown.

“Gareth would absolutely have gone through last week if it was down to the public vote.”

But Luke wasn't backing down, challenging Jason to step into the boxing ring to see if he he was just all talk.

Luke said: “If Jason wanted to, I would like to do that.”
