Dancing On Ice 2013 host Phillip Schofield has defended Gareth Thomas' exit at the weekend.
Sunday evening saw Gareth bow out in the latest Dancing On Ice 2013 results show.
But it wasn't a normal exit, with Gareth being forced to withdraw due to illness, having been unable to complete his second skate of perform in the skate off when he was voted into the bottom two.
Speaking on This Morning yesterday, host Phil defended the show over its handling of the situation.
He explained: "A lot of people on Twitter last night were saying you should have put all four through to the final, but the structure of the show doesn't allow for that.... and unfortunately, the rule is, if you can't skate you have to go.
"It wasn't the production team, it was the medics that said 'you can't do this'... but we wish him lots of love and hopefully he'll come in during the course of the week."
Discussing Gareth's illness, Phil admitted he was worried that Gareth was about to faint after his first skate on the ice on Sunday.
He added: "It's no way to go out of the competition though, it's a shame.
"He's feeling better today I think, but what a shocker."
Next weekend’s final live show will see the remaining three skaters – Matt Lapinskas, Luke Campbell and Beth Tweddle – compete for the win!
