With the Dancing On Ice celebrities having to start training some months before the show, and many using public ice rinks, the line up is often spoiled long before the show starts and this year is no exception.
Various names have been linked to the upcoming series, ranging from those who reside in the House of Commons to those from Brentwood.
Labour Peer Oona King perhaps one of the more left field choices. The former MP lost her seat in Parliament to Celebrity Big Brother's George Galloway in 2005.
Now in a role reversal, it's Oona who's set to appear on a reality telly show. A source said: “Oona is a lively character and can’t wait to take part. She was in the running for it way before it was announced that Nadine Dorries was in I’m A Celebrity.
“So hopefully she won’t change her mind when she sees the reaction the Tory receives.”
Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson is also on Dancing On Ice in the new year, having moved from the Celebrity Big Brother house. The actress is set to pocket a big fee after jetting across from the US version of Strictly, where she was voted out in the first few weeks.
Naturally there are some Olympians in the line up too, with Beth Tweddle and Luke Campbell in training. The gymnast and boxer are both set to take to the ice when the live shows start on ITV1 next month.
“Olympians are competitive people so it was a no-brainer to sign one up,” a source claimed recently. “Beth has great poise for obvious reasons and was keen to give it a go.
“We’ve seen her on the ice and she’s very good. She’ll be a great contender.”
X Factor's Shayne Ward is set for Dancing On Ice come January as well, having recently moved onto the West End in the Rock of ages. A source said: “Shayne has natural rhythm and is confident he’ll really get into skating. But he’s most concerned about pulling off the pink sequinned spandex look.”
Having a second attempt at the show is Keith Chegwin, who was in training last year but had to pull out due to injury. “I was supposed to do it last year but I fell over and broke my arm – but I’m a definite for this year,” he said in training for the second time. “I’ve just got to lose weight and skate, I’m really worried about it.”
One of the more usual suspects on this year's line up is TOWIE's Lauren Goodger, with the reality star having quit the ITV2 series to take part. Let's hope it's worth it!
Show bosses have also managed to get former EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas and Coronation Street actress Samia Ghadie on the line up for the show, which returns to ITV1 in the new year.
Speaking to The Sun, an insider revealed: "Matt and Samia will be great too. They're good skaters and our viewers love the soap stars."
And finally in the latest rumour round up is telly host Anthea Turner, who has apparently been offered £50,000 to compete in the show. "Anthea is still a household name and someone who ITV chiefs are convinced that their viewers will want to see on the ice rink," says a source.
"She has managed to keep herself in good nick over the years and is very fit for someone who is 52. Also, Anthea has not been on the television for years so is aching to get back into the limelight."
