Hope Murphy: Britain's Got Talent 'more challenging' than X Factor

Hope - Britain's Got Talent 2012

Britain's Got Talent singer Hope Murphy has said she reckons the show is more challenging that The X Factor.

Despite criticism from some fans about singers appearing on the variety contest, Hope insisted that she should be allowed to apply for the show.

The 16-year-old wowed the judges last weekend with her take on Kate Bush track This Woman's Work, and said being on BGT required her to be "more unique".

“I decided to audition for Britain’s Got Talent because it’s more about variety," Hope told the official ITV website this week. "I think it’s more challenging and if they are comparing me to dancers, it can make me more unique.”

Hope follows a line of singing acts to impress the judges this year, and all of them have the same aim: Impress Simon Cowell!

The teenager revealed: “I was most nervous about performing in front of Simon, because when you see him on telly, when you’re at home, he always seems the most brutal.”
