Britain's Got Talent 2012: Hope Murphy told she was 'too fat' to get a record deal

Hope - Britain's Got Talent 2012

Britain's Got Talent 2012 singer Hope Murphy has said that she was branded 'too fat' to ever get a record deal.

The 16-year-old revealed today that producer and former reality telly judge Pete Waterman said she'd need to lose some weight to make it in the industry.

Essex star Hope won a place in the next round of Britain's Got Talent last night after a performance of This Woman's Work.

Simon Cowell raved: “You sang it very well. I like your personality.” Alesha Dixon added: “You sang it beautifully. You look fantastic.”

Speaking to The Sun this morning, Hope explained: “I’ve done songwriting in the past with Pete Waterman.

“Pete did talk about my weight and said it would affect me being an artist.”

But a confident Hope said she was inspired by Grammy award winning Brit superstar Adele.

“I don’t think anyone pays attention to her weight because she’s so talented," the teenager added.
