Britain's Got Talent 2012: The Mend feel "better prepared" after X Factor axe

Britain's Got Talent 2012 - The Mend

Britain's Got Talent 2012 hopefuls The Mend have said they feel "better prepared" for their second shot at fame after their X Factor axe.

The band were booted off of the ITV1 series despite impressing the judges - including Gary Barlow - following claims they had already signed a management deal.

The boys - Kris, Dean, Jay and Craig - come from Manchester and reckon this year's Britain's Got Talent is the best yet.

"This is the best we've ever seen BGT. I think we're better prepared this time, and we're enjoying every single minute," said Dean.

"Simon Cowell wasn't on the X Factor panel last year, and in the music industry there is no bigger name to perform for."

But despite wowing Simon and some 3,000 audience members, Dean confessed to What's On Tv they still get nervous when performing.

He said: "We still get stage fright sometimes. It depends on the gig and who's there. We've done gigs where there have been six people there, but we just look at each and have a laugh.

"But when it's someone like Simon Cowell in front of you, you want to impress. You know it could be the be-all and end-all."

The Mend recently described their axe from The X Factor as a "huge knock", but have stuck by their mentor, ex-Take That manager Nigel Martin-Smith.
