Britain's Got Talent's Jonathon Antoine told to be himself by former winner Paul Potts

Britain's Got Talent - Jonathan and Charlotte

Former Britain’s' Got Talent winner Paul Potts has advised Jonathon Antoine to be himself on the show, and not be bullied into having a makeover.

The long haired Opera star impressed the judges on last weekend's series opener after performing with pal Charlotte Jaconelli.

Paul, who won the first ever series of Britain's Got Talent in 2007, said this week that he had come under pressure after his first appearance on the show.

The then phone salesman shocked viewers with a booming operatic voice, but it was his appearance that many focused on, with comments about his weight and "bad teeth" dominating headlines.

Paul said: “Already Jonathon and Charlotte are being asked whether they will be having a makeover for the finals or for whatever comes after.

“This is a very familiar question to me. I was asked several times whether I would have a makeover, and if I was going to have my teeth done."

He added: “I certainly wasn’t about to have surgery to artificially improve myself or to ‘shed pounds’."

Paul, who has gone to sell millions of records across the world after winning the show five years ago, told the pair in his blog: "Make changes that YOU want to make and stick by your guns.”

Britain's Got Talent 2012 continues next Saturday on ITV1.
