Britain's Got Talent 2012: Ashley Elliott and his Xylophone through to the next round!

Britain's Got Talent 2012 - Ashley

16-year-old Xylophone player Ashley Elliott was a surprise hit with the Britain's Got Talent audience on tonight’s show.

The teenager was seen auditioning for the judges as try outs move back to Blackpool for the first time in almost five years.

"I’ve been playing the xylophone for two years. I started off in my percussion teacher’s house and I eventually ended up buying that one, and that’s the one I’m playing today," Ashley explained.

"I live at home with my Mom and Dad on a farm. Dad is a farmer and the whole family have been farmers for hundreds of years, but I want to break away and do music as a career. "

Ashley was given two minutes to make the most of his skills, performing a very quick and energetic number along to a backing track.

But Simon Cowell buzzed halfway through, with Alesha quickly following, but David Walliams seemed to be getting into it has he got up on his feet to dance around the judges' desk.

"He's like a one man, Xylophone playing One Direction," David joked. "Young girls will love this."

"You actually are a brilliant player," Simon conceded, "What put me off was what you were wearing and the style of music, but the audience loved it."

When it came to the vote, Simon decided to give Ashley a yes along with David, meaning he went through to the next the stages.
