Britain's Got Talent 2012: Alesha Dixon will be "firm but fair" with the acts

Alesha Dixon (Britain's Got Talent 2012)

Britain's Got Talent's new female eye candy Alesha Dixon has said she'll be a firm but fair judge, and revealed she's already been standing up to show boss Simon Cowell.

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge has no shortage of credentials to back up her position on the panel, and she insists: “I know how to give constructive criticism."

Speaking to the show's official website at itv.com/talent, Alesha explains: “I’ll be firm but fair. I love that BGT reflects how diverse, talented and brilliantly bonkers our country is. Bring it on!”

As first a member of R&B group Mis-Teeq, then a solo star in her own right and now a dancing starlet, Alesha has plenty of experience in the entertainment industry, and sometimes can't help herself from joining in with some of the acts.

She admits: “I’ve fond memories of being in Mis-teeq. The only downside was the cringe-inducing outfits. I loved being a female MC. You’ll still find me rapping from time to time, I can’t help it!”

And having worked in the business since her teenage years, the feisty brunette beauty is taking no nonsense from the other judges.

Alesha added: "I’ve also told Simon to zip it on several occasions when he’s interrupted me mid-flow.

"I won’t let the boys drown me out when I’m offering opinions to acts!”

Britain's Got Talent 2012 airs on Saturday nights from March 24.
