The battle between Britain's Got Talent 2012 and The Voice UK is getting nasty very quickly, with BGT boss Simon Cowell saying last night he wanted to "kill the opposition."

It was revealed this week that the first ever series of the new BBC one reality show The Voice would be going head to head with the return for Britain's Got Talent on Saturday nights from March 24.

Preliminary schedules suggest that The Voice UK will get a 15-minute head start, kicking off its first ever episode at 7:15PM, while Britain's Got Talent will air from 7:30PM on ITV1.

The Voice UK will see a superstar panel of musical coaches, including global chart toppers Will.i.am and Jessie J. They'll be joined by Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue on the show, which sees budding singers take part in 'blind' auditions.

Britain's Got Talent 2012 meanwhile sees the return of Simon Cowell to the judging desk, as well as welcoming new panellists Alesha Dixon and David Walliams alongside Amanda Holden.

Speaking to The Sun however, Simon declared war on the BBC rival, saying: "I like the competition. You want to kill the opposition."

Ultimately however it'll be us viewers who'll lose out on this battle over bragging rights, so let's hope both sides grow up and work together!
