Simon Cowell offered a helping hand in the form of his private jet to a Britain's Got Talent crew member at the weekend.
Sound engineer John Hagenstede, who works behind the scenes on the ITV1 series, was informed on Saturday night that his girlfriend had gone into labour twelve weeks early.
The only problem was that John was still in Scotland, some 500 miles away from the hospital where his other half was giving birth.
But boss Simon Cowell was quick to offer the 44-year-old a "lift" back home... in his private jet!
A nervous John was joined by Simon and his fellow BGT judges Alesha and David on the dash from Scotland to London, where a chauffeur-driven car was awaiting his arrival.
"They could see I was really nervous and offered me a drink and some food,” John explained. “It was absolutely surreal. We chatted about what life’s going to be like for me as a dad – they were brilliant.
“After landing, the little steps came down and there was a car waiting for Simon and the others and another one that he had laid on for me.
“I just wanted to keep thanking him – I was over the moon.”
And thanks to the speedy jet, John was able to witness the birth of his first daughter, Jude Berkeley Hagenstede, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Offering his congratulations, Simon said: "We were almost as excited as he was. I am glad that we managed to get John there on time.”
