Girls Aloud 'tribute' group audition for Britain's Got Talent 2012!

Simon Cowell

A Scottish version of Cheryl Cole impressed Britain's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell this afternoon as the show's auditions travelled up north.

After spending three days in London earlier this week, the Britain's Got Talent 2012 auditions moved on to Edinburgh today, with Amanda Holden back on board.

The West End star joined Simon, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams for try outs at the city's Festival Theatre earlier this evening.

One of the acts attempting to win a place in the live shows was a Girls Aloud tribute act, who were seemingly hoping to replace the real thing whilst they take a break*.

And spies inside the auditions claim that Simon took a particular liking to the group's fake Cheryl!

Britain’s Got Talent 2012 will air on ITV1 from April.

* Yes, that year long hiatus is still going on.
