ITV bosses were AGAINST Simon Cowell bringing in Carmen Electra to join the Britain's Got Talent judging panel, it has been claimed.
The former Baywatch star stood in for Amanda Holden at auditions in London this week, but her reception from both fans and producers wasn't the best.
However boss Simon overruled "horrified" ITV execs by keeping the actress on the panel, the Daily Mail reports.
"Simon wasn’t thinking with his head with this decision," a source told the newspaper. "It’s just like when he picked Kelly Brook for the panel.
"Carmen is virtually unknown here and her performance was shocking. Simon enjoys spending time with her and that seems to be the basis of his decision.
"In our view it was crazy but he’d made his mind up."
Defending Carmen however, Simon insisted the show needed to be about finding talent and not finding popular judges.
He said: "We’ve got to get this show back to a talent competition and not a popularity contest."
Fortunately for ITV, Amanda will be back behind the judges' desk when auditions continue this weekend in Edinburgh.
